The Dallas Production of Abbreviated Enlightenment's /ochen chotto schpiel/ (very little play) opened July 17, 2004 at the Addison Conference Center to a sold out house and critical acclaim (see review: Lawson Taitte, DMN).
The show was created and produced in record time. Casting on June 26 to opening night spanned fewer than 30 days! A talented cast of actors, writers, musicians, improvisers, artists, and dancers grew to a rotating cast of around 20 performers.
Space hopping around the Dallas area, the ensemble performed in 4 venues and at various gigs around the city. The cast was also invited to perform at the Addison Water Tower Theatre's "Out of the Loop Festival" for fringe productions in March of 2004.
Despite great reviews and word of mouth, no one venue/time sustained enough demand for a full year run. The Dallas show is on hiatus until such time as the Producers find an appropriate investment opportunity for a space to be owned and operated by AE. Feel free to write us with suggestions!
